Senior Network Administrator
Pioneer State Mutual is seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator for planning, implementing, administering, and optimizing the company’s network and systems infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, performance, and reliability. Working as part of a small team of other Senior Network Administrators and Network Administrators, this role manages enterprise network, server, cloud, and technology environments; supports vendor relationships; and implements solutions that enable business operations. The Senior Network Administrator plays a key role in maintaining secure and reliable connectivity, strengthening cybersecurity controls, supporting business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives, and collaborating with other infrastructure team members to deliver reliable and efficient technology services across the organization. This position is on call 24/7 days a week for emergencies.
Principal Accountabilities Include:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize the company’s network, server, storage, cloud, and infrastructure environments.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and security; troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the acquisition, installation, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle of enterprise hardware, software, and technology assets.
- Administer endpoint management, mobile devices, remote access technologies, and secure connectivity solutions for employees, agents, and approved third parties.
- Manage relationships with infrastructure vendors, service providers, and technology partners to ensure service quality and contractual compliance.
- Maintain and enhance infrastructure security, including Active Directory, Group Policy, firewalls, access controls, and cybersecurity technologies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, operating procedures, network diagrams, and asset inventories.
- Evaluate infrastructure, cloud, hardware, and software solutions and recommend improvements based on security, performance, scalability, and cost.
- Support disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, replication, and failover strategies through testing, documentation, and implementation activities.
- Provide infrastructure support for application development, testing, integration, and deployment efforts.
- Assist with technology budgeting, cost forecasting, asset lifecycle planning, and capacity management.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support for maintenance activities, outages, and critical incidents.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to IT staff while promoting infrastructure standards, best practices, and operational excellence.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing network and systems infrastructure in a regulated insurance or financial services environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical and operational decisions.
- Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to providing responsive support to employees, agents, vendors, and business partners.
- Provides professional, courteous, and responsive service to internal departments and external agency partners.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of Network Infrastructure & Protocols like CP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, routing and switching.
- In-depth knowledge of Cloud Technologies like Azure, Hybrid cloud integration, replication, and failover/failback strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of Fortinet Firewall, Active Directory, Group Policy, and access control configuration.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 Administration and Suite.
- Skilled in the following technologies and tools:
- Operating Systems: Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, 2016, and Windows 11
- Virtualization & Backup: Hyper-V, Windows Failover Clustering, Veeam Backup & Replication
- Network & Security: Fortinet Firewalls & Switches, FortiClient ZTNA, Fortinet Wireless APs, and FortiNAC, Dell/EMC networking, ConnectWise Automate Control Administration, ThirdWall Intrusion Prevention, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Intune, and Delinea Secret Server
- Databases & Mail Servers: SQL Server 2025 & 2019 and Exchange Server
- Directory & Infrastructure Services: Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Windows Admin Center, Microsoft Hyper-V Manager
